Gaspar Zaldivar studied at FUC (Fundación Universidad del Cine) in Buenos Aires before returning to his native country and founding OIMA Films, an audiovisual production company initially dedicated to producing commercials and music videos, where he excelled as a director and producer.
In 2012, OIMA Films embarked on the production of its first feature film, “Luna de Cigarras,” directed by Jorge Bedoya. The film was commercially released in Paraguay in October 2014, as well as in Argentina, Uruguay, and Bolivia, with special screenings in Brazil and the United States. Zaldivar served as Executive Producer on the film. “Luna de Cigarras” won two awards at the Madrid International Film Festival for Best Costume Design and Best New Director, among several nominations. The film also premiered on the prestigious U.S. network Starz.
In 2014, Zaldivar worked as an associate producer on Bedoya’s next film, “El Supremo Manuscrito,” which was also commercially released in October of that same year. Zaldivar contributed to the film’s soundtrack by playing the piano and producing the main theme alongside the director.
In 2021, he founded Janus Media S.A., through which he is currently developing his first fiction series, titled “La Asunción,” as well as the fiction feature film “Distancia,” currently in post-production, in co-production with Koreko Gua, Al Mango, and E-motion (Colombia). He is also working on “El Lopecito,” a fiction feature film in development.
Nicolás graduated as a senior technician in audiovisual production management in 2016 at Lycée Carnot in Cannes. That same year, he began his career in Mexico as a production assistant for the film “Julián” by Izrael Moreno.
He returned to his native country, Paraguay, to start AL MANGO, a company specifically dedicated to film production. From 2016 to 2023, he produced titles such as the thriller “El Supremo Manuscrito” by Jorge Díaz de Bedoya & Michael Kovich Jr. (winner of the Ibermedia Program 2017, a Paraguayan-Mexican-Argentinian co-production, released in 2019), the comedy “Orsai” by Emiliano Gómez (released in 2019), the Argentine-Paraguayan-Brazilian co-production dramatic series “Mata Salvaje” (2023) by Ignacio Echeberría, the American film “The List” (2023) by Michael Hardy (released in 2023), and the award-winning innovative virtual reality series “OPUS vr” by Michael Kovich Jr (Best Immersive Content VirtualityBA19, licensed to HUAWEI – China in 2022).
Currently, he is in the post-production stage of the film “Distancia” by Dea Pompa (Awarded at SAPCINE 2021, Selection Iberseries&Platino Industria 2022). In August 2023, Nicolas premiered the psychological horror film “El Apartamento” by Michael Kovich Jr., selected for the Latin American Focus of MAFIZ Málaga 2024.
As a new venture, he has been working at JANUS MEDIA S.A. since 2022 on the development of film projects with a focus on the writing stage, such as the drama “El Lopecito” by Liz Haedo, selected in 2023 for the Audiovisual Project Development Course of the Fundación Carolina and the Ibermedia Program.
Additionally, with the goal of promoting immersive technologies in Paraguay, Nicolas launched the first edition of the EXPYLAB – Paraguay Immersive Experiences Lab in 2021 in co-production with the Alliance Française of Asunción. This free, three-week training program provides scholarships to creators, artists, and technologists to develop their immersive projects. With three editions completed, in 2023, Meta and BID LAB recognized EXPYLAB, as part of the Metaverse Community Challenge, as one of the top ten communities out of 370 across 22 countries using virtual and augmented reality to create social and economic value.
